Orientation Schedule

 

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO ORIENTATION (LUCO) IS A SUMMER-LONG VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE COMPRISED OF A VARIETY OF ONLINE OPPORTUNITIES TO INTRODUCE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO ACADEMIC AND STUDENT LIFE AT LOYOLA. Over the summer, you will learn about the many programs and services that are available to you as a Loyola student and connect with your classmates. Orientation Leaders will share their Loyola Experience with you, answer your questions, and do their best to ensure your smooth transition into the Loyola community! LUCO officially begins with the online Orientation Kickoff Events on Friday, June 4.

 
 

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION

After participating in the Orientation Welcome Session, all new freshmen are required to register for and participate in an Orientation Week. You can register for your required Group Academic Advising Appointment and Small Group Discussion on your Student Portal*. Please complete your pre-advising form and any required placement assessments at least one week before your Advising Appointment. More information is available on your Student Portal.

On the Monday of your Orientation week, please check your Loyola email for messages from your Orientation Leader and your Orientation Academic Advisor. Those emails will include important information and the links to join your sessions. Please also plan to join the Orientation Week Overview Webinar at 3:30PM CT. You will be auto-registered for this webinar and sent your unique link the weekend prior. Here is the Orientation Week schedule:

*While we recommend you participate in your Group Academic Advising Appointment and Small Group Discussion in the same week, it is not required. Though, you must participate in the Orientation Week Overview Webinar the day prior to your Group Academic Advising Appointment.

After your Small Group Discussion, your Orientation Leader will invite you to join a GroupMe to stay connected with them and your small group. Throughout the summer, please plan to participate in each LUC RESOURCE WEBINAR, visit the Virtual Resource Fair, and consider participating in other optional opportunities like OL Chats, Affinity Discussions, and Lake Shore Campus Visit Days. Follow us on Instagram (@LUC_FYE) to stay informed!

Student-athletes and students in the Interdisciplinary Honors Program and Quinlan School of Business Honors Program will have slightly modified Orientation experiences this summer. Please review your respective pages for more information.

Parents and family members are encouraged to participate in the summer-long online orientation experience with their students. This includes the:

You student is also invited to register for an optional Lake Shore Campus Visit Day, to which they can bring one guest.

Throughout the summer, faculty, staff, Orientation Leaders, and other parents and family members will share their Loyola Experience with you, answer your questions, and ensure your smooth transition into the Loyola community! To support you and your student, we will be sharing resources via a parent/family newsletter that will begin in July, and will share resources and opportunities on Instagram (@LUC_FYE).
